A guitar 9th chord is a 3- or 4-note chord with a 9th note added.

In the case of a C chord, the add9 chord is C, E, and G plus the D note.

For a C7 chord, the 9th chord is C, E, G, B♭ plus the D note.

In the case of a chord that involves the open strings of a guitar, there are cases where the 9th note is included without even realizing it.

Here we will introduce a typical 9th chord, the 7th+9th.

The constituent notes of the chord are E (1st), G# (3rd), B (5th), D (7th), and F# (9th).

Since it can be difficult to produce all the notes on a guitar, you can often see a pattern of omiting the 5th note in guitar chords.

The most commonly used chord form for E7(9) is the chord form that starts at the 5th string and 7th fret.

There are patterns in which the first string is held down and patterns in which the first string is muted without being held down.

It is a good idea to use them differently depending on the song or phrase.

I also intentionally wrote down the open string of the 6th string and the chord form starting from the 12th fret.
