Guitar course for beginners Part 13 Let’s play 8 note beat shuffle

Among rock and pop music, there are many 8 note beat shuffle songs.

To describe it in words, it’s a song with a rhythm that makes you bounce.

The shuffle is played differently depending on the person, but for convenience, we will write it as a triplet here.

If you were to describe the rhythm of the above score in words, it might be “janjanka janka janka.”

The above score uses G, C, and D chords.

This is what it looks like when combined with drums.

Let’s play by adding accents to the Snare drum positions (beats 2 and 4).
 

 

8 note note beat shuffle pattern ②

This is a pattern with syncopation like “janjaka~nkajaka”.

Make sure that the syncopation point matches the bass drum.

8 note beat shuffle cutting ①

Finally, I will introduce a pattern that includes cutting (brushing).

If I were to describe it in words, it would probably be “Tsukutsucha~ka, Tsukutsucha~ka”.

At the tsukutsu part, try playing with the nuance of letting the finger that is pressing down the chord float just a little bit.

For brushing, please also refer to Part 10.

The score uses barre chords G, C, and D to make brushing easier.
