In the third lesson, we will introduce C, Am, Dm7 and G, which are relatively easy to play.

“C” and “G” are Part 2 covers this in detail, so please refer to that as well.

Am (A minor) is similar to the chord form of C.

Dm7 (D minor seven) is a chord with the 7th note added to Dm.

There are three ways to play the “C” low chord

Pattern ①

6th string 3rd fret ⇒ Ring finger
5th string 3rd fret ⇒ little finger
4th string 2nd fret ⇒ middle finger
3rd string open
2nd string 1st fret ⇒ index finger
1st string open


Pattern ②

6 string open
5th string 3rd fret ⇒ Ring finger
4th string 2nd fret ⇒ middle finger
3rd string open
2nd string 1st fret ⇒ index finger
1st string open


Pattern ③

6th string open (mute)
5th string 3rd fret ⇒ Ring finger
4th string 2nd fret ⇒ middle finger
3rd string open
2nd string 1st fret ⇒ index finger
1st string open


To mute, just lightly touch the 2nd fret of the 6th string with your thumb.

If it is difficult due to the size of your hands, pattern 2 is fine.

Am is similar to the chord form of C

Am is similar to the chord form of C.

Dm7

Dm7 (D minor seven) is a chord with the 7th note added to Dm.

5th string open

3rd string 2nd fret ⇒ middle finger
2nd string 1st fret ⇒ index finger
1st string 1st fret ⇒ index finger


It is the seventh note (C) counting from D.

In the case of Maj7 (major seven), the seventh note is replaced with “C#”.
*This is the sound of the 2nd string and 2nd fret.



There are two ways to play the “G” low chord

Pattern ①

6th string 3rd fret ⇒ middle finger
5th string 2nd fret ⇒ index finger
4th string open
3rd string open
2nd string 3rd fret ⇒ Ring finger
1st string 3rd fret ⇒ little finger


Pattern ②

6th string 3rd fret ⇒ Ring finger
5th string 2nd fret ⇒ middle finger
4th string open
3rd string open
2nd string open
1st string 3rd fret ⇒ little finger


Summary

Now you have memorized 6 chords: G, Em, C, D, Am, and Dm7.

It may take some time at first, but with practice you will definitely get better at it.
