m7 (minor seventh) is a chord that adds the seventh note (seventh) to the first, minor third, and fifth notes.

If the chord is Am, you can switch to Am7 by adding “G” to “A” (A), “C” (C), and “E” (E).

m7 is a chord that is used not only in pop music but also in jazz.

Here, I will introduce the m7 chord.

Am7 and Dm7①

As a combination of m7, we will take up Am7 and Dm7.

First, let’s play an 8th note beat strumming pattern with a low chord.

The chord form is relatively easy to play, making it suitable for beginners.

The trick is to press the string carefully so that your fingers don’t touch the adjacent string.

Am7 and Dm7②

The second pattern is Am7 and Dm7 in barre chords.

Since both have the same 5th fret, it seems easy to change chords.

Although the Dm7 chord form is written with the 6th string muted, it is actually a barre chord that is held down to the 6th string.

Even if you hear a 6-string sound, you don’t need to worry too much.

Am7 and Dm7③

The third pattern involves cutting (brushing).

Strumming the “X” part on the music score while keeping the chord form and lifting your finger just a little.

Am7 and Dm7④

Finally, we will introduce patterns in omitted chord form.

If anything, it might be a pattern used on electric guitars.

Of course, you can also play with an acoustic guitar.

No problem at all.
