As an 8th note beat rhythm pattern, Part 9 is a chord struumming.

Part 10 We have covered cutting (brushing).

In this 11th installment, we will be explaining 8th note beat muted backing.

It may not be used much on acoustic guitars.

We will also introduce the “Omit3 chord”, so please look forward to it.

8th note beat muted backing

I mentioned mute when playing chords, but you can also use mute when you’re picking.

The nuance is like lightly touching the bridge part.

It’s like, ko, ko, ko, ko, ko, ko…

It’s not gogogogogogo.

In order to make it easier to mute, I purposely use a Omit3 chord.

Just press down the 6th, 5th, and 4th strings.

For the next two chords, just press the 5th, 4th, and 3rd strings!

Please play all notes by picking down (from top to bottom).

What is a Omit3 chord?

Omit3 chord is literally a chord that “excludes the third note.”

For example, in the case of G, B becomes the third note.

If it remains B, then G.

*The note with the 2nd string open is “B”

If it is B♭, the chord will change to Gm.

*The sound of the 3rd string and 3rd fret is “B♭”

By not adding this third note, it is an extremely convenient chord that can be used in both major and minor keys.

By the way, mute backing is also possible with patterns that do not include thirds.

Can I use it while playing an acoustic guitar? or not?

I don’t know, but if you remember it, the range of backing will expand.

Summary

So far, we have introduced 8th note beat muted backing.

If anything, mute backing may be more reminiscent of an electric guitar.

Using muted backing on an acoustic guitar also has the advantage of avoiding the same backing from beginning to end.

It doesn’t hurt to know.

Please take this opportunity to master it.

Thank you for reading to the end.
