Should you eat the tail of fried shrimp? or not? I saw this question.
I tend to eat shrimp tails relatively often, although it depends on the cooking method and how well they are cooked.
Some people may leave the tail of the fried shrimp for etiquette reasons.
I’ve heard that depending on how fried it is, there are cases where it’s better not to eat it.
I think either is fine.
It’s just a matter of dealing with each person depending on the situation.
Main nutrients contained in shrimp tails
Shrimp tails seem to contain the following nutrients.
- Chitosan
- Calcium
- Astaxanthin
Chitosan
Chitosan is a nutrient found in the shells of crustaceans such as crabs and shrimp.
When you think of crab shells, you probably think of carapace sake, which is used to pour hot sake.
However, they do not eat the shell itself.
There also appears to be FOSHU (food for specified health uses) made from chitosan.
It seems to be aimed at lowering blood cholesterol.

Calcium
Calcium is a nutrient found in dairy products, seafood, and leafy vegetables.
There is a strong impression that calcium is especially present in large amounts in dairy products.
Among them, Parmesan cheese and skim milk powder have high values.
It seems that a lack of calcium makes you more irritable.
Calcium is used to build and maintain bones and teeth.
In particular, people who manage their weight by severely restricting their food intake should be aware of the risk of osteoporosis and other diseases.

Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin is a type of beta-carotene.
Beta-carotene is the red pigment found in tomatoes and carrots.
On the other hand, astaxanthin is a red pigment found in salmon, crab, and shrimp.
It has an “antioxidant effect” that removes active oxygen that has increased too much in the body.
Don’t get me wrong, active oxygen is actually useful for the body in appropriate amounts.
I’d be in trouble without it.
The only problem is “too much” active oxygen.
Active oxygen is the root of all evil! I purposely wrote this because the expression can be misleading.
Correct knowledge cannot be obtained easily.
It is a very difficult task.
Summary
You can eat the shrimp tails or not!
It’s important to enjoy your meal.
